No using translators or on-line dictionaries.  We want you to do your own work, not have the computer do it for you (conjugating your own verbs, etc.).  Also the translators don’t understand the nuances of the language and are often incorrect.  Using a translator (electronic, person, or computer) or on-line dictionary without approval from your teacher will result in a grade reduction or a zero.

Participation grade- This grade is based on being prepared for class, volunteering answers, helping other students, remaining focused on the task at hand, finishing the tasks, and classroom conduct.

Class rules- These are determined with each teacher toward the beginning of the school year.

Respect for others is essential.  No one is to ridicule or laugh at anyone else in class.  Everyone learns differently and at a different pace, and we must respect that.

Desire to learn and participate is key.  Everyone must be willing to try and to participate.  Raise your hand and share your ideas.

Keeping an open mind about various cultures and new ideas is greatly encouraged.  As we study about different people from different places beside our own, we must remember that they have experienced both similar and different cultural and individual experiences as we.  We must learn to be tolerant and accepting of others and their perspectives.  This doesn't mean that we have to agree.  However, by learning about others and their cultures, we just might learn something interesting!

Homework assignments that are handed in on time are a part of your grade and shouldn’t be ignored.

Requirements to go to the next level- As stated in the Program of Studies below, students from Spanish One who want to be promoted to Spanish Two will need to have a 75 yearly average or better; Spanish Two students who want to be promoted to Spanish Three will also need to have a 75 or better yearly average.  This yearly grade includes the midterm, final exam, and all four quarter grades.  Please aim high to achieve your goals.  Seek additional help from the teacher, if needed.
