Art 1  Syllabus

Course Description:

Art 1 is designed to provide the student a foundation for the study of Art.  Students will experience the meaning of Art through drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture and mixed media.  It is oriented in the Fine Arts of Art history, is skilled based and includes the study of the Art Elements and Principles of Art.  Students will work with many forms of imagery and incorporate selected media to pursue creative uniqueness within a planned program.

Goals:

Students are to use time wisely and complete assignments in due time.

Students study hand-outs and prepare for quizzes and commit to homework

 

 

Requirements:

Students are to arrive in class prepared and are expected to keep up with all assignments.  All must be responsible in the Art room per guidelines in student handbook and class requirements.  All assignments are due on time and graded as specified in student/teacher contract.

Evaluation:

Grading based on the Art elements and principles for all projects created and submitted.  Quizzes, class participation, homework, and final tests on all written material as well as class work.  Work is expected to be completed on due dates and graded as outlined within original student/ parent contract.  Signature (required by all students) below verifies syllabus was read by student and parent.  Parent/ Student Information:  This syllabus is a guideline of learning activities for Art 1 classes.  It is subject to change with timing and content upon teacher discretion.
