10 Minute Math Tests|Spelling Words|Homework|E-mail me

Greetings, families! I just learned how to update my web page so I hope to change it more frequently from now on! We are beginning a new unit in our Anthologies called “Zoom In.” This theme integrates science and language arts. The children are working on animal habitat reports right now. We hope to put our research together in a Power Point presentation and invite parents to view our work. I will let you know when the presentation is ready for viewing. We are reviewing subtraction in Math. Please work with your child on subtraction facts. Our addition 10 minute math tests are still a big hit! We have one child who achieved 100% three times already! She is now doing the tests in 5 minutes! There are several other students who are very close to 100% as well. Congratulations to all for a great job! Sight words are still very important in second grade. If your child is not reading fluently, practice last year’s sight words. You can make a “Go Fish” or “Memory” game by making doubles of each word. The children love to play these games at school! Have your child spell the word if he or she does not know it. You can tell your child the word and continue the game. We will be starting the “Pyramid Café” next week. This is a health program that teaches children about proper nutrition. I can always use parent volunteers. Send in a note if you can help. Your time in the classroom can be short if necessary-- sometimes having a parent for as little as 45 minutes makes all the difference! Book orders for November will be going home in the next few weeks. J |

grade levels. Kids Konnect links you to games, research, and more! Marco Polo is a terrific resource for research. Yahooligans is a “kid-friendly” search engine. WebQuests is a higher order thinking skills
